Welcome to the 2nd module of the UoM course. The goal of this module is to focus on activities that university students can “dive into” in order to act proactively in managing their careers and avoid “the lost generation fate”. Regardless of the academic results, recruiters worldwide agree that students should be able to demonstrate skills needed in the workplace. They also warn that graduates with no previous work experience are unlikely to be successful during the selection process and have little or no chance of receiving a job offer. In this module you will learn how university students can seize the time of their studies, in order to gain work experience and to develop the skills needed in the workplace.
In the following pdf you will better understand what skills the labor market favors, how students can develop those skills and what they can do in order to reach the “holy grail”, that is “work experience”.
