2. Types of Exercises

There are many different types of exercises which may be used by the trainers in such trainings. Except for group activities which can certainly spark interesting group discussions, other types of exercises which may be successfully used in order for the participants to learn more about their values are: reflection exercises, goal setting exercises, questionnaires, story-telling exercises.

3. How to Choose the Right Exercise

The trainers can choose the right exercise based on a number of factors, such as:

For example, when the trainer is planning and preparing a team building exercise for a group of employees, it is better to use an exercise which will focus more on group discussion and sharing between the participants. If the time the trainer has for this activity is not enough though (e.g. only 30 minutes), it is better to choose a short reflection exercise and invest more in a good debriefing, inspiring the participants to talk more about the exercise during the break, thus succeeding in saving time and promoting team work and sharing. On the other hand, if the aim is to practise speaking skills in a foreign language, the trainer may use a questionnaire and let the learners compare their answers.

Please note that all the exercises presented below are best suited to groups of 10-15 participants.
